The track is prepared with VHT on the morning prior to a comp race meeting, unless poor weather is expected. The track has a concrete launch pad to 200ft, where it changes to tar seal. The strip is a runway, so it is very flat, straight, and has excellent traction and run-off (braking area).Masterton Motorplex is located at the Hood Aerodrome near Masterton.

Turn directly opposite the Caltex (Solway Service Station) on SH2 at the south end of Masterton, and follow the signs.
