Slopes Ski Club National Park

Slopes is a privately owned, incorporated Ski Club situated in Park Lane, off Millar Street in National Park with a fabulous view of Ruapehu, Tongariro and Ngauruhoe at its doorstep. It boasts easy access to both Whakapapa and Turoa skifields and caters for all types of skiers and boarders. It is a family oriented Club for all ages and skill levels. Membership is limited to 120 Ordinary and Associate members.

The Club was formed in 1984 principally by former students of the Auckland Technical Institute (ATI). Funds were raised by debenture and the Lodge and Chalet were built in 1985. Slopes became one of the inaugural members of the Body Corporate that looks after the Park Lane development, which includes 16 other privately owned chalets.

The club has retained the self-help spirit of those pioneering days. Members enjoy off-season work parties, and with their guests, take responsibility for meals and other duties when staying. The chalet and lodge are used year-round as a place to relax or as a base for participation in the increasingly wide range of activities available in the Tongariro National Park.
