Mick Fanning
Born in Penrith, NSW, Australia, Mick Eugene Fanning is a top surfer winning the ASP World Tour in 2007. Born on June 13th, 1981, the 28yo now resides in Tweed Heads, NSW, Australia.
Mick Fanning has faced many hurdles throughout his surfing career. In 1998, when Mick's career path was taking off, his older brother sean was killed in a motorvehicle accident. Sean, 18 at the time, was also an aspiring young surfer and shared a dream with his brother Mick of someday qualifying and winning the ASP World Tour. Although Mick was heartbroken from the tragic death of his older brother, he continued on his surfing career and soon won the world tour in 2007, dedicating it to his brother sean.
In 2004 Mick came accross his second obstical of tearing his hamstring off the bone while attempting a tricky maneuver. The professional surfer had to undergo intensive surgery and faced the risk of never being able to surf again. However, after six months of rehabilitation, Mick was back on his board and surfing as hard as ever.
