X-Air Wakeboarding is owned and run by Adam, Linda and their son Zak.

X-Air Wakeboarding was conceived in 1996. Adam made a wakeboard pole for his boat after a friend returned from the USA raving on about this great new sport … wakeboarding.

The concept was simple... A 2.0 meter + high tow point lifts the wakeboarder up in the air for bigger air and bigger tricks.

Initially there were some weird looks and odd comments about the high pole… “First time I’ve seen a mast on a speedboat!” , “ When are you going to put your sail up?!!”

Adam’s passion was to modify things… cars, boats, anything, as long as he could make it different!

Three years on Adams boat was upgraded and he made a mistake. He bought an off the shelf powder coated aluminium pole and it was a disaster. After only 9 months the aluminium base plate was badly corroded and all the powder coating was flaking off. The pole came out of its base plate…a very sad ending.

Adam worked out that as per his original pole, stainless steel was the only way to go. His boat was in the sea as much as the lakes at Ohakuri… used for fishing, family day trips as well as watersports.

Next modification was the addition of a sound system. The twin 12" Sub Rockford Fosgate "Box That Rocks" complete with big amplifiers was installed up in the bow of his Haines 1800s along with speaker box on the high pole... That too raised a few eyebrows... cranking music out on the water while watching the Americas cup was enjoyed by many other boaties!

As wakeboarding became popular more and more boats were seen with high poles and sound systems fitted.

Next Adam developed the X-Air Wakeboard tower along with other accessories such as board racks, rod holders and speakers.

In 2003 Adam left his job as General Manager of a Hydraulic Engineering company to run X-Air full time. 

Now in 2008/2009 X-Air has added a new range of products including the Indy brand Marine Anodised Aluminium Towers, Racks and Speakers plus Ballast Systems, Mag Wheels and Custom Graphics suitable for all boat types (See the X-Air Advantage)

X-Air offers a same day boat pick up and delivery service in the greater Auckland area. There are dealers/installers nationwide and worldwide.
