Brendon Hartley and Daniel Ricciardo join Tech 1 Racing for the 2010 season
Sunday, 08 November 2009 02:55
The Red Bull Junior Team has shown its confidence in Tech 1 Racing for the 2010 Formula Renault 3.5 Series season. Brendon Hartley and Daniel Ricciardo have now been confirmed by the Toulouse-bases team for next year’s championship.

Simon Abadie, the Tech 1 Racing team manager, promised a pair of top-class drivers to reconquer the teams’ and drivers’ titles in 2010. The former racing driver has kept his word with today’s confirmation of Brendon Hartley and Daniel Ricciardo! Given Toulouse’s rugby heritage, the New Zealander and the Australian should feel at home in the team straight away!

Brendon Hartley, who will be 20 in a few weeks time, won the 2007 Eurocup Formula Renault and then came third in the British F3 Championship in 2008. In 2010, he will again be at the wheel of a car prepared by Tech 1 Racing. « Brendon’s learned a lot this season and has shown incredible speed, » explained Simon Abadie. « He’ll already have a year’s experience under his belt in this formula, which will make him one of the favourites for the drivers’ title. We didn’t have a lot of luck with him in 2009, but next year, when we fit all the pieces together, he’ll be one hell of a challenger! »

Daniel Ricciardo, who has just turned 20, came second in the 2008 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, and won this year’s British F3 Championship, drove for Tech 1 Racing in the Portimao round of the 2009 WSR Championship. After his wonderful season in Great Britain, the young Australian will race in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series on a full-time basis, and will be one of the men to watch.. « Daniel’s already proved his ability to adapt very quickly.. He’s a great guy and we’re delighted to welcome him into our team. Next week, he’ll get to grips with his car during the collective test session on the Catalonian circuit near Barcelona. »

Tech 1 Racing is running two Red Bull Junior Team drivers and its aims are clear! « It’s all very simple ; we’ve got the best drivers. Both Brendon and Daniel have the talent to get into F1 and score victories. We’ve got to be the best so we can win together,» said Simon. « It’s a real sign of recognition for the team to have been chosen by Dr. Helmut Markko to defend the Red Bull Junior Team colours. In addition, we’re really lucky to be able to announce our 2010 drivers so early on. That’ll help us to do a great job this winter to arrive at Motorland Aragon perfectly prepared for the opening round of the season next April. »

With a couple of drivers like Brendon and Daniel, the start of the 2010 season can’t come soon enough! Tech 1 Racing already has its sights fixed on next year.
