More competitors to run Routeburn Classic |

Up to 350 runners will cross through Fiordland and Mount Aspiring National Parks in this year’s Routeburn Classic, New Zealand’s most anticipated mountain run. Organisers of the event have been liaising closely with the Department of Conservation (DOC) in a bid to increase the number of runners – up from 225 in previous years.

Kiwi triathlon stars join Challenge Wanaka teams |

Bryan Rhodes, legendary Kiwi triathlete with 16 years of experience and four iron distance titles under his belt, will race in next week’s Challenge Wanaka. Rhodes, who is renowned as being the first Kiwi to lead an ironman race from start to finish (Malaysia in 2001 and 2002) will do the swim and bike while Auckland runner Kristen Baker will do the marathon leg.

With entries now closed for New Zealand’s fastest growing long distance triathlon, a record 1,000 athletes from 24 nations have signed up to take on the gruelling Challenge Wanaka course at either the full 226km iron distance or the 113km Lake Wanaka Half.
