Tires of Fire this Sunday
Friday, 13 November 2009 21:44
Tires of Fire this Sunday November 15th 12pm - 2pm Beaumont St, Tankfarm, Auckland. Tires of Fire returns to Auckland in all it's blazing, tire burning glory! With the amount of smoke that  pours out the back of a wide variety of fixed gear bikes when this event comes to town, one would be forgiven for thinking that there were indeed “Tires of Fire” present at each location stop.

The “Red Bull Tires of Fire” sees the countries finest fixed gear enthusiasts and technical masters of the common proverbial bicycle skid, lay down some rubber in various forms and lengths of locked rear wheel defiance. Young and old alike are brought together in smoky unison with a common bond, the love of skidding.

How far can a fixed gear or single speed bike skid for?

This is the question which needs answering and all who will be in attendance are keen to skid themselves into the record books and find out. The answer? ….well last time around that came in the form a young gentleman by the name of Ken White who managed to peel out a truly impressive winning skid of 270m.  Ken smashed the previous record by a whopping 105m. What did he win you ask? Tires of course, and lots of them.

One thing is for sure, Ken White in no way should be embarrassed of the skid mark he left on a disused stretch of road in an industrial estate in Albany.
Who will be the new champion and possibly skid themselves into the record books ....come along this Sunday  November 15th to Beaumont St at the Tankfarm in Auckland at 12pm and find out.
All welcome to enter on the day, just bring your bike and a healthy appetite for a huge self serve of skid.

Always remember, where there is smoke there is fire!
