(Chicago, IL) – Neither rain, nor wind, nor mud could keep the top international BMX riders from putting on a show at the first-ever Red Bull Stomping Ground. A BMX dirt jumping competition hosted at an abandoned paper mill in Chicago’s Riverwest neighborhood, 50 athletes from all over the world attempted to take on this unique course designed by Fuzzy Hall.

Jamie Bestwick’s first two runs in the final were so flawless, they earned him 49 out of a perfect 50 possible points. He went down in his third run—hanging up on the coping of his re-entry into the vert ramp after a lofty 540 tailwhip—walked off the ramp uninjured, but didn’t return to the competition. Fortunately, since the top two best runs in the jam session were what counted, his were enough to earn the 2006 and 2007 BMX Vert gold medal winner his third gold in a row.

The Bowenvale jump jam is back for 2009 and bigger than ever, with more prizes and revamped jumps the jam will be well worth checking out. Once again the big backyard jumps will be invaded by top level New Zealand dirt jump athletes who will compete for the best trick, best run and biggest boost.

Summer is finally here. And to celebrate RedBull Specialops team decided to take eight BMX riders around the central north Island for a great weekend away. The riders were George Bolter, Louis Bolter, Mike Lawrence, Fraser West, Tim White.
