It looked certain that Janina Kuzma would come out on top today at the second stop of the Freeskiing World Tour in Revelstoke BC. Kuzma dominated through the qualifiers and maintained her lead at the heli-accessed finals with the highest score of the day after her first run, but a fall in her second and final run of the day saw her in fifth place at the end of the competition.
The helicopter that transported the skiers for the final day of the Revelstoke Freeskiing World Tour The lead was left wide open after Kuzma fell short of the dominance exhibited by her in the opening round. Americans came out strong, with Jess McMillan and Jacqui Edgerly claiming the first and second spots, respectively.
“I'm really glad the finals ran in the end,” said Kuzma. “I had a great run my first day ending up with the highest line score (38.33) out of the men and women.” “The visibility at the finals was variable with fog rolling in and out. I had a line picked out that had two big cliff drops. I found my line easily and stuck to my plan. I didn't land my first cliff and ended up moving from first to fifth place.”
“This is a really good learning curve for me for the up and coming Nissan Freeride World Tour.” Kuzma flies to Europe on 24 January where she will join her sister Maria, New Zealand’s top female big mountain snowboarder, for the first stop of the Nissan Freeride World Tour in Chamonix on 30 January.
