Queenstown Rafting Company Expecting Busy Summer
Friday, 01 January 2010 23:49
Queenstown rafting company Family Adventures is looking forward to a busy summer as a ‘soft adventure’ option for holidaymaking families in the region.

The locally owned and operated company specialises in family, small group and conference group rafting trips down the upper reaches of the famous Shotover River in a ‘soft’ expedition-style adventure.

Unlike other companies that guarantee to scare the living daylights out their clients, all in the name of an adrenalin rush, the rapids on a Family Adventures experience don’t get beyond Grade 2, and trips are on guided rafts with guides who are all members of the New Zealand Rafting Association.

That’s why the company has recently added customisable packages for families and C&I groups who want to explore the Shotover River and historic Skipper’s Canyon.

With warmer weather on the way, owner Mark Forsyth is looking forward to what is shaping up to be another busy season.

“We’re very excited about what this summer has in store for us. This time of year we’re always busy, but with our new conference and incentive package we look forward to providing a unique experience for a variety of groups,” Mark says.

The new fully-customisable packages for families and C & I groups include catering options such as a Great Kiwi BBQ, and adventure ‘add-ons’ like guided mountain biking in Skippers Canyon, private full or half-day charters or a helicopter ride to finish the day.

With rock jumps, rapid swims and hard-to-get photo opportunities, there are plenty of thrills along the way and all clients need to bring is a towel, a camera and some togs - Family Adventures supplies all the professional safety equipment.

Suitable for ages three to 103, water confidence is not a necessity.

A shuttle departs twice daily from The Station building in central Queenstown and pick ups can be made from Queenstown accommodation on request. Each trip takes approximately five hours.

A Family Adventures trip costs $155 per adult and $110 per child. Bookings can be made online at www.familyadventures.co.nz or by calling 0800 472 384.
